DOUBT: A STAGE PLAY ADAPTATION

Hey everybody!

The movie we will be talking about is again an Oscar nominee, received 5 nominations, and a brilliant movie, of course. Its name is "Doubt" and it is the film adaptation of "Doubt: A Parable", a stage play. The movie's cast is also great, consisting of Philip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. In my opinion, Hoffman and Streep's performances in this movie were both fascinating.

The movie takes place in 1964 in Bronx, New York. A charismatic priest, Father Flynn (Hoffman), tries to renew the traditions of an experienced nun named Aloysius Beauvier (Streep), who believes in the power of discipline. As the country is in a period of changing, a Black boy named Donald Miller is accepted to the school. One day, Sister James (Amy Adams), a naive but inexperienced nun, shares her doubt with Beauvier, telling Beauvier that she believes Donald and Father Flynn are overly intimate to each other. Then, Beauvier gets eager to reveal the truth and have him kicked out of the school. So, a fight of some sort between Beauvier and Flynn begins, a fight which may cause terrible results both for the church and the school.

If you are fond of movies which have deep messages and which require serious thinking, I suggest you watch this movie!
