SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE: AN 8 OSCAR WINNING MASTERPIECE

Hello again my dear followers!

This week, I'm going to talk to you about a movie which is considered the best of 2008 by many critics. The name of the movie is 'Slumdog Millionaire' and it is an adaptation of the prize winning novel 'Q&A' by the Indian author Vikas Swarup. The movie received 5 Critics' Choice Awards, 4 Golden Globes, 7 BAFTA Awards and 8 Academy Awards, including 'Best Picture' and 'Best Director'. The movie is distinct from the other good movies of 2008 with the great performances of its child actors. The director of the movie is Danny Boyle.

'Slumdog Millionaire' tells the story of an 18 year old orphan named Jamal Malik, who lives in the slums of Mumbai. Unbelievably, he has made it to the final question in the Indian version of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' and he is about to win 20 Million Rupees. His success in the quiz show arouses many people's suspicions, including the police. So, a police inspector interrogates him to find out if he was cheating. However, as the inspector interrogates Jamal, we will learn about his extraordinary life story.

Up to now, the movie grossed about $176 million and its IMDB rating is 8.6 out of 10.

In conclusion, this is a must-see masterpiece and if you don't watch it, you would miss a lot. I mean it!

DOUBT: A STAGE PLAY ADAPTATION

Hey everybody!

The movie we will be talking about is again an Oscar nominee, received 5 nominations, and a brilliant movie, of course. Its name is "Doubt" and it is the film adaptation of "Doubt: A Parable", a stage play. The movie's cast is also great, consisting of Philip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. In my opinion, Hoffman and Streep's performances in this movie were both fascinating.

The movie takes place in 1964 in Bronx, New York. A charismatic priest, Father Flynn (Hoffman), tries to renew the traditions of an experienced nun named Aloysius Beauvier (Streep), who believes in the power of discipline. As the country is in a period of changing, a Black boy named Donald Miller is accepted to the school. One day, Sister James (Amy Adams), a naive but inexperienced nun, shares her doubt with Beauvier, telling Beauvier that she believes Donald and Father Flynn are overly intimate to each other. Then, Beauvier gets eager to reveal the truth and have him kicked out of the school. So, a fight of some sort between Beauvier and Flynn begins, a fight which may cause terrible results both for the church and the school.

If you are fond of movies which have deep messages and which require serious thinking, I suggest you watch this movie!

THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON: WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMEONE LIVED LIFE COUNTER-CLOCKWISE?

Hi again everybody!

After a 2-weeks break, I'm again here to talk to you guys about a movie. This time, the name of our movie is "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". I'm sure most of you heard of this movie since it had been a huge success, being nominated for 13 Oscars.

The movie stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. They both act very well in the movie. Apart from them, we also witness the great acting of Taraji P. Henson and this great acting of hers made her an Oscar nominee for 'Best Supporting Actress'.

The movie is adapted from a 1921 short story of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

The movie tells the story of a man who lives his life counter-clockwise and looks younger as he gets older. As you can understand, this unique quality of Benjamin makes his life very difficult, yet he manages to find the love of his life which will last for ever.

I don't want to give spoilers about the movie in case you go see it, but I can truly say that this is a movie that must be watched and that will affect you deeply after you watch it.
